00:12 - Literally it popped out of the mold

00:14 on the day before I flew it down to Barcelona.

00:17 - Watching it actually happen was that eureka moment.

00:20 There was the right people involved,

00:21 the right ingredients for that particular project.

00:25 - All this time I've wanted to dive deeper

00:27 and now I'm gonna tell the definitive story

00:30 about what I think is the world's most iconic bikes.

00:33 And by the end of this film, you're gonna agree with me.

00:38 In this documentary, I'm talking to engineers,

00:46 designers, riders, and fellow admirers of Lotus bike.

00:50 - It's one of these moments in history

00:52 that you say there is a significant difference.

00:55 - It was surreal, it was just all coming together

00:57 at the right time in the right place.

01:01 was the man leading the charge in the tunnel.

01:03 - It was a psychological advantage,

01:05 it was a technological advantage,

01:08 and it was a physiological advantage.

01:09 It was all three together.

01:11 I'd gone from unemployed carpenter

01:15 to suddenly being an Olympic gold medalist.

01:18 History was happening in front of us.

01:20 - And so the Lotus 110 was born.

01:24 The same year as Chris Boardman turned pro,

01:26 the perfect candidate to show it off to the world.

01:29 - Everybody prepares for this monumental three-week race

01:33 in the month of July, and we prepared for seven minutes.

01:37 We just approached it like an Olympic pursuit,

01:40 and we put that in a professional world of cycling,

01:43 and the difference was very clear.

01:44 - Lotus can be very proud that they started that journey

01:49 and really pushed innovation of bikes

01:52 20, 30, 50 years later.
