AMD launched new artificial intelligence chips called Instinct MI300X that are designed for AI-oriented servers and compete directly with Nvidia's AI chips. Microsoft and Meta have committed to using AMD's new Instinct MI300X chip for their AI workloads. In response to the chip launch, AMD's stock price rose 9.9% as investors are optimistic the company can take market share away from Nvidia in the AI chip market. AMD projects its AI chip revenue to be $2 billion by 2024. Still, the overall AI chip market is estimated to grow to $400 billion by 2027, providing opportunities for both AMD and Nvidia to grow. Analysts estimate AMD could capture around 10% of the total AI chip market with its new products.
