State Police Pursuit - December 7, 2023

Around mid-day on December 7th, 2023, a Louisiana State Police trooper attempted to stop a Chevrolet Tahoe in the Lincoln Parish city of Ruston. The driver had other plans and led the trooper on a brief pursuit, before crashing into another vehicle and running across Interstate 20 on foot. Fortunately the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Unfortunately neither Lincoln Parish SO or Ruston PD's channels were coming in on our tower a few parishes away, so we don't know if the suspect was captured or is still on the run.

Of interest, the Sergeant wanted another trooper who was not involved, to write the report on the entire ordeal. This is not standard practice (in Louisiana anyway) and suggests the involved trooper may not be very trustworthy. This is, after all, the notoriously corrupt Troop F which has been in the national news over the Ronald Greene killing and other incidents.

This pursuit itself lasted approximately 5 minutes, and the entire situation took about an hour and a half. As these Troop F troopers were sorting this situation out, at least one Troop E trooper assisted with a foot pursuit in the central Louisiana city of Alexandria. The suspect in that one got away. That suspect is lucky, as less than 24 hours prior, sheriff's deputies in Rapides Parish (where Alexandria is located) shot a person in the head and appear to be successfully covering it up.
