00:00 God bless you.
00:06 and then they see for a moment
00:28 and then they see for a moment
00:30 there's been a lot of
00:32 conversations around the big
00:34 agenda.
00:36 I'm the big agenda.
00:48 the list of twenty-two items.
00:52 parliament. minister for trade
00:56 and the parliament.
01:00 so that
01:02 it be a
01:04 it be a
01:06 it be more.
01:08 no.
01:10 run about.
01:12 it being so
01:14 a dream.
01:16 so in a ceramic
01:18 and no matter
01:20 twenty-two but
01:22 the question is, are we ready?
01:26 Do we have the capacity to produce?
01:30 Look at a
01:32 in a year. Look at a
01:34 in a year. Can we produce it?
01:36 And now, moment of truth from NDC
01:40 and also Mustafa.
01:50 moment of truth.
01:54 You.
01:58 the
02:02 the
02:06 time on time.
02:10 number one.
02:18 import substitution
02:22 regime. Okay.
02:26 a
02:28 as we speak.
02:30 Sad.
02:32 minister.
02:34 of corruption.
02:36 This
02:38 that's the fact.
02:40 Even the few
02:42 factories.
02:44 The few factories
02:46 we have are collapsing.
02:48 Because of
02:50 one high taxes.
02:52 tax.
02:56 Two, corruption.
02:58 a
03:00 factory.
03:02 MPP
03:04 NDC
03:06 They've destroyed a lot of people's businesses.
03:08 business
03:10 workers.
03:12 Since
03:14 companies are collapsing.
03:16 Issues of corruption.
03:18 Yes. So
03:20 So what else we have that?
03:22 Now,
03:24 one district, one factory.
03:28 Because one district, one factory is a
03:30 a cause.
03:32 Because of the
03:34 import substitution regime.
03:36 Who is responsible?
03:38 I don't know.
03:40 There were some companies.
03:42 There were nothing.
03:44 What they had?
03:46 What they had?
03:48 Private individuals
03:50 who were
03:52 factories.
03:54 They were rebranding.
03:56 One district, one factory.
03:58 That is all they did.
04:00 They did nothing.
04:02 We've seen pure water factories
04:04 being rebranded.
04:06 Under Kufadu as one district, one factory.
04:08 Two years ago,
04:10 when they were building
04:12 factories,
04:14 they were portraying
04:16 the factory.
04:18 They were portraying the factory.
04:20 Now, we're making
04:22 a portray in Iberia.
04:24 Because the deficits are very high
04:26 in terms of our local production.
04:28 They were portraying the factory
04:30 in the field.
04:32 They were portraying
04:34 the factory
04:36 in the field.
04:38 They were saying,
04:40 "We produce 10,000,
04:42 if we produce 50,000."
04:44 "We can cut down import."
04:46 "We can't afford it."
04:48 To us, we speak,
04:50 the portrayed farmers are going out of business.
04:52 Because of high inflation,
04:54 because of high cost of production,
04:56 because of high cost of raw materials,
04:58 largely because government has failed to do its work.
05:00 We're saying,
05:02 "We're not going to do it."
05:04 They're saying, "You're wrong."
05:06 "You're wrong to say that."
05:08 The minister said that.
05:10 When he was in office, he gave me approval.
05:12 He gave you approval to do it.
05:14 Yes, a corruption regime.
05:16 So people would have to pay bribes
05:18 in order to get...
05:20 That is what you think.
05:22 Yes. Look, this thing was done in the 70s.
05:24 We've been here before.
05:26 And so Ghana is now here.
05:28 But the fact is, it's the 70s.
05:30 The fact is that
05:32 K.T. Amon and President Akufo-Addo
05:34 is establishing a corruption regime.
05:36 They are exploiting Kwafuo.
05:38 Because, you see,
05:40 as a business person,
05:42 government is creating
05:44 the environment
05:46 for businesses to grow.
05:48 NDC says
05:50 that they are doing it.
05:52 But here,
05:54 they are selling
05:56 local companies.
05:58 They are selling them.
06:00 And now they are in opposition.
06:02 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:04 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:06 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:08 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:10 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:12 The local pharmaceutical companies can stand.
06:14 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:16 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:18 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:20 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:22 They are selling them to the NSC.
06:24 So those are some of the things we do.
06:26 And the fact is,
06:28 these are the prerequisites
06:30 conditions upon which
06:32 you can bring such imports.
06:34 And the fact is,
06:36 once you go through the requirements
06:38 and you qualify,
06:40 at this point,
06:42 you qualify
06:44 for some of the prerequisites
06:46 instead of jumping the gun
06:48 to get the money
06:50 you need.
06:52 That's a custom for whom?
06:54 The only thing you do
06:56 if you don't want something to come to this country
06:58 is to increase the price
07:00 in terms of tax.
07:02 The disincentive will go to
07:04 augment government revenue.
07:06 Then the people who are super rich,
07:08 who intend that,
07:10 despite
07:12 what they know,
07:14 they can buy.
07:16 Then those taxes can also produce something
07:18 for women and women to meet.
07:20 But when you go and establish
07:22 a regime of DAC,
07:24 you have to have a minister
07:26 who decides,
07:28 "I have a license, I can't do this."
07:30 It's the same as
07:32 when you have a minister
07:34 who decides to advance
07:36 and you have to be a party
07:38 to make sure
07:40 that you are a party.
07:42 If you qualify,
07:44 you have to be qualified.
07:46 The prerequisites should be
07:48 very clear.
07:50 You are a business person.
07:52 Now, you are a business person.
07:54 And it falls within
07:56 the category of things.
07:58 The NDC is not against the fact that
08:00 we need to at least
08:02 cut or reduce importation.
08:04 The NDC is not against it.
08:06 We believe that Ghana should be able
08:08 to create industries
08:10 that will produce
08:12 substitutions.
08:14 [speaking in foreign language]
08:16 [speaking in foreign language]
08:18 [speaking in foreign language]
08:20 Before we left Fawa,
08:22 we've laid the foundations
08:24 for the Commander Sugar Factory.
08:26 [speaking in foreign language]
08:28 But it's for the people of Ghana.
08:30 [speaking in foreign language]
08:32 So when you do that,
08:34 then you cannot limit.
08:36 As we speak, the substitutes are not there.
08:38 [speaking in foreign language]
08:40 [speaking in foreign language]
08:42 Local manufacturing of pad.
08:44 And I see a very sensitive.
08:46 So they have a specific quality
08:48 of pad that women use
08:50 to be able to give them the hygienic protection.
08:52 When they don't get that quality,
08:54 they cannot use it.
08:56 So you have to patronize
08:58 a local use of pad.
09:00 Then you must also ensure,
09:02 say, taxes are reduced.
09:04 You give industries incentives.
09:06 [speaking in foreign language]
09:08 [speaking in foreign language]
09:10 [speaking in foreign language]
09:12 We are not ready.
09:14 And apart from the fact that we are not ready,
09:16 government is only
09:18 creating an incentive
09:20 for corruption.
09:22 [speaking in foreign language]
09:24 They've stolen too much.
09:26 We shouldn't allow them to steal again.
09:28 [speaking in foreign language]
09:30 Yes.
09:32 [speaking in foreign language]
09:34 Parliament.
09:36 If that bill is passed,
09:38 [speaking in foreign language]
09:40 Yes.
09:42 [speaking in foreign language]
09:44 [speaking in foreign language]
09:46 [speaking in foreign language]
09:48 [speaking in foreign language]
09:50 The whole process.
09:52 [speaking in foreign language]
09:54 Business for a business.
09:56 [speaking in foreign language]
09:58 [speaking in foreign language]
10:00 [speaking in foreign language]
10:02 [speaking in foreign language]
10:04 [speaking in foreign language]
10:06 But at the end of the day,
10:08 they are the engine of growth.
10:10 [speaking in foreign language]
10:12 [speaking in foreign language]
10:14 We must not be talking about political color.
10:16 [speaking in foreign language]
10:18 [speaking in foreign language]
10:20 [speaking in foreign language]
10:22 [speaking in foreign language]
10:24 [speaking in foreign language]
10:26 You and I know.
10:28 [speaking in foreign language]
10:30 [speaking in foreign language]
10:32 [speaking in foreign language]
10:34 [speaking in foreign language]
10:36 The reason behind...
10:38 But let's come to the policy.
10:40 Let's come to the policy.
10:42 So far, policy.
10:44 From where you sit.
10:46 [speaking in foreign language]
10:48 We in DC agree
10:50 that Ghana should consciously say,
10:52 "Yeah, but yeah,
10:54 a reduction in terms of import
10:56 and then enhance our local production."
10:58 We agree.
11:00 We are saying, say, yes, if we're in power,
11:02 probably we'll do the same thing
11:04 to help the 24-hour economy.
11:08 'Cause if you are doing 24-hour economy,
11:10 production within the economy will grow.
11:13 When it grows,
11:15 then you should be able to market
11:17 those production, those produce.
11:20 What it means is that
11:22 you then stop importation.
11:24 As we speak, this government
11:26 haven't built one factory.
11:28 [speaking in foreign language]
11:30 [speaking in foreign language]
11:32 But they said they are stopping the cars.
11:34 [speaking in foreign language]
11:36 [speaking in foreign language]
11:38 [speaking in foreign language]
11:40 [speaking in foreign language]
11:42 There's a policy now.
11:44 [speaking in foreign language]
11:46 If you are an equator, you have to approve the parliament. If you are an equator, you have to create an incentive for corruption. And we want businesses to grow. So Ghanaian businesses should have a free environment to grow.
12:11 Talking about corruption, we have to understand that the time in the NDC is short. And your people from the other side are corrupt. But at the end of the day, Ghana is not the only country that has corruption.
12:38 So why don't we bring back some of these things, reducing it to corruption?
12:42 We have to understand that the government should state all the preconditions. Not publicly, but with transparency.
13:02 But what about the assembly? What will happen to the people of Ghana?
13:12 They won't do it because they are corrupt. They will not do it so that you and I will have our free existence in this country.
13:18 We are preaching against this government. You must carry the society along. You must satisfy A, B, C, D.
13:35 We have to understand that the government should not be corrupt. When we do that, you and I will be ministers of the government.
13:52 So you are saying that the government should be open? These are the criteria.
14:07 We are not trying to allow corruption. That's what we are saying. We are not against the police. But we are saying that it is an incentive for corruption.
14:24 Importers should not go and ask permission from a minister before they import. Government should come out with clear guidelines.
14:34 If you import, you should know the quantity of the goods. If it is beyond 20 years, you should not import.
14:44 If it is beyond 5 years, you should not import. When the criteria is very clear, then the government would have been doing serious business.
14:52 But if you are not doing business, you should not be in the government. You should not be in the government. You should not be in the government.
15:07 We have wanted to speak to the trade and industry minister.
15:32 We have wanted to speak to the trade and industry minister.
15:59 So far, as a political party, we have been working on the industrialization agenda. On this policy,
16:07 we have a 24-hour economy. We are a friend of the big push. We have a 24-hour economy. Even radio stations work nearly 24 hours.
16:28 This is a multimedia initiative. We have other factories that are already 24-hour production.
16:39 But there is no conscious government policy.
16:43 We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy.
17:08 We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy.
17:36 We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy.
17:41 We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy.
17:54 We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy. We have a 24-hour economy.
18:22 (speaking in foreign language)
18:26 (speaking in foreign language)
18:30 - Hello.
18:34 - Hello.
18:35 (speaking in foreign language)
18:36 - Good evening, Eric and Eric Yensey.
18:37 - Eric Yensey, what can I say for you?
18:40 (speaking in foreign language)
18:41 - You, Eric Yensey.
18:43 (speaking in foreign language)
18:46 - We are discussing an important issue.
18:54 We should go on to discuss the general,
18:56 the attack on a guy,
18:57 the personal attack,
19:01 it won't solve a problem.
19:02 Let us look at the topic on the board
19:05 and discuss the problem.
19:06 So that people who read it,
19:08 who listen it,
19:09 who take resources from it.
19:11 But we can't go on elsewhere.
19:13 And more resources.
19:14 (speaking in foreign language)
19:18 - Hello.
19:20 - Hello, good evening.
19:22 - Yeah, good evening, how are you?
19:23 (speaking in foreign language)
19:28 (speaking in foreign language)
19:32 (speaking in foreign language)
19:36 (speaking in foreign language)
20:03 (speaking in foreign language)
20:32 - When we go to other places like Dubai, Singapore,
20:34 we see the same thing.
20:36 - People have raised concerns about,
20:38 I think it's a 24 hour economy now.
20:40 We need another day to talk about it.
20:43 - Correct.
20:43 - Now if we go into the nitty gritties of it.
20:45 But (speaking in foreign language)
20:49 (dramatic music)
20:55 you
