Wonka creators say they would 'love' to see the musical become a West End show

Wonka&#39;s director Paul King and his co-writer Simon Farnaby speak to Yahoo UK about how the film would &quot;suit&quot; a West End stage.

00:00 I loved all the musical numbers that you had.

00:01 I thought they were so well choreographed and made.

00:04 I wondered, what was that like to make it?

00:06 But also, would you love to see this kind of

00:07 head to the West End one day?

00:09 - Oh, that's an interesting idea.

00:11 - I'd love it.

00:13 - Are you a theater promoter who would make great?

00:15 - Yes.

00:16 I have a couple of million spare dollars

00:18 to mount the show.

00:20 Pounds.

00:21 I think they were, yeah, to answer your question,

00:27 the songs were, I fell in love with the songs so much.

00:31 And obviously, as I was sort of listening to Neil

00:33 writing them and crafting them with him,

00:36 to a certain extent, I was listening to them again and again

00:38 and they sort of just get under your skin

00:41 in such a glorious way.

00:42 And I spent a good kind of year waking up

00:46 with one of Neil's songs sort of on my lips,

00:49 which was a total pleasure.

00:50 And so making the sequences to them was great fun.

00:54 And again, it's something where you just go,

00:55 like, I know I love this material

00:58 and I can hold onto that love of it

01:00 and never really get bored.

01:03 So they were great fun to make.

01:05 I think it'd make a great stage show.

01:07 - I hadn't even thought of that, but yeah.

01:10 Would you like to see a stage show?

01:12 - Yeah.
