00:26 to tell a group of young men who did everything

00:28 that was asked of them in a major conference

00:31 that they don't get to play while someone else gets to play

00:36 because they play in the most popular league.

00:38 I mean, that's really what this came down to.

00:41 You can say, well, Florida State wasn't the same team

00:45 without Jordan Travis.

00:46 Okay, well, was Alabama the same team

00:49 that needed a fourth and 31 defensive incompetence miracle

00:53 by Auburn in order to stay in the hunt for this?

00:57 That was only eight days before these teams were selected.

01:00 So I think they were probably the same team,

01:03 but that was completely disregarded

01:05 because it was convenient for the committee,

01:07 which couldn't imagine a college football playoff

01:11 without an SEC team.

01:13 That's really what this came down to.

01:14 The foremost qualified teams

01:16 did not include Alabama and Georgia.

01:19 Now, if you had had this tournament

01:20 the way it should have been all along

01:22 from the very beginning,

01:24 wherein you had automatic qualification,

01:27 then you would have all five power five champions,

01:29 and then some semblance of representation

01:33 for the group of five schools,

01:35 and then perhaps some at large.

01:37 If you'd had at least that from the very beginning,

01:40 which was the obvious and easy solution

01:42 all the way back in 2013, 2014, when this was set up,

01:46 then none of this would have happened.

01:48 But college football, for as long as you and I

01:50 have been alive, Mike, has been addicted to malarkey.

01:53 I use the word malarkey because we're on the radio.

01:56 But that's the reality.

01:58 They believe, the people who run this sport,

02:02 really believe that if we stop yelling about it,

02:05 we'll stop paying attention to it.

02:07 And that's nonsense.

02:09 The games are great.

02:10 Being in a stadium is great.
