00:06 One day ahead of the finale, The Hollywood Reporter published an expose detailing how

00:10 the first Golden Bachelors' past was a bit different than what was presented on the show.

00:15 Turner had claimed that he hadn't dated since his wife's tragic death in 2017, but a former

00:20 girlfriend disputed this, saying they dated for almost two years and lived together.

00:25 Turner spoke to reporters following the finale of his show and, among other things, discussed

00:30 the expose.

00:31 He told Katie Couric, "I guess I would say this.

00:34 I dated a number of women.

00:35 But then it becomes an issue of how you define whether you're in a relationship.

00:39 The relationship referenced in THR really didn't last a few years."

00:43 The New York Times previously asked Turner if the story was accurate, and he replied,

00:47 "I guess I haven't really looked at how accurate it is.

00:50 I've more looked at it in terms of timing and how it really doesn't fit with all of

00:54 the positive things that are going on in my life right now."

00:57 As for reports that Turner lied about his occupation, the reality show portrayed him

01:02 as a retired restaurateur, but didn't note he more recently worked as a handyman.

01:07 "The comments about what I did later in life, I did those after I retired.

01:11 I retired at 55, and I was very happy giving back to the community and doing things that

01:16 were worth something to other people.

01:18 I mean, geez, I didn't work as a handyman for the money.

01:21 I did it because I knew I was doing something good for people who needed help."

01:25 Turner's season, meanwhile, ended with an engagement with his final pick, Teresa Nist,

01:29 and a wedding announcement with the ceremony to be televised January 4 on ABC.
