#7 Texas Wins The Big 12 Title Defeating Oklahoma State, 49-21
In their final Big 12 championship, Texas dominates Oklahoma State 49-to-21.
Texas started off the game extremely hot, scoring 35 points in the first half. Quinn Ewers went 23 for 31 with 354 yards and four touchdowns in just the first half, breaking the record for most first-half touchdowns scored in a Big 12 championship game. Steve Sarkisian knew the key to winning this game was going to be utilizing the passing game. Texas is known for running the ball, but they have found a lot of success late in this season by allowing the Ewers to throw the ball. Adoni Mitchell, Ja'Tavion Sanders, CJ Baxter, and defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat registered a touchdown for the Longhorns in the first half.
Oklahoma State struggled in the first half with offensive production, and the defense was not making very many stops. The defense did come up with one huge play with an interception to put the Cowboys in the red zone, which led to a 7-yard TD pass from Alan Bowman to Rashod Owens. Other than that, the offense was extremely slow, with Bowman going 13/23 with only 126 yards.
In the second half, everything remained the same. Texas continued to move the ball down the field with ease, and Oklahoma State could not capitalize on offensive possessions. Quinn Ewers finished the day with 452 yards, which is a Big 12 Championship record.
Texas will sit back and wait to see if their name gets called to clinch a spot in the college football playoffs. If not, they will secure a very good bowl game, which some assume might even be the Cotton Bowl here in Arlington.
