00:00 What's the biggest disappointment you've had on the team today?
00:03 Well, obviously the result goes without saying.
00:07 Why was the result?
00:10 In the end we've conceded a goal from a typical Everton goal,
00:17 and now they can create chances,
00:19 balls into the box, kept alive,
00:21 back into the box, certain men that they aim for,
00:25 and create chances from it.
00:27 We've had a lot of work on it all week,
00:30 and we succumbed to it on that particular time.
00:33 So that's disappointing, the lads obviously have taken it well.
00:36 I think we weren't productive enough in the final third
00:42 for all of the times that we got there.
00:48 We've not showed enough creativity, enough guile,
00:50 enough quality to really create more chances than what we did.
00:56 But when we did create chances, we've not even hit the target.
00:59 If you look at their goal, it's very clinical.
01:04 You look at us in that moment,
01:06 Jordan Pickford's not even had to make a save.
01:09 So there wasn't a load of chances in the game,
01:11 a real load of kick went off the line,
01:12 but that was our doing, to be honest.
01:14 The one real chance they've had, he's taken it really well.
01:18 The ones we've had, we've not showed enough quality
01:22 that you need at this level to score goals.
01:24 The other real talking point, and everyone's obviously talking
01:27 from the radio and the TV,
01:30 is the difference in decision-making on the penalty.
01:34 Shout, well not shout, was a quarry on Yates
01:39 compared to the one that was given against us last week.
01:41 So, again, I won't hide behind a decision with a result,
01:49 like I did last week, I won't do that.
01:51 But if that's a penalty last week, then it has to be today.
01:56 We've had two very experienced referees in the last two games,
02:02 and they couldn't be any further away from being consistent.
02:05 So in those moments, we're not talking about decisions
02:07 in the middle of the pitch,
02:09 we're talking about penalty decisions
02:11 that can really cost games or win you games as well.
02:15 So it doesn't just need looking at by the media,
02:22 it needs a bit of ownership internally in the game as well,
02:24 with the PGMOL, just to go, "Come on guys, what are you doing?"
02:27 Everybody wants to help, but they've got to help themselves.
02:31 But, like I said, not the only factor
02:36 why we didn't score a goal today.
02:39 We have to own the other reasons that I just talked about as well.
02:43 Steve, at the final whistle there were a few emotions,
02:48 which is really unusual here.
02:50 Well, yeah, there have been lots of emotions
02:54 walking out of the stadium today from all of our supporters,
02:58 and whatever that emotion is,
03:00 it will only come from support and love for the club.
03:03 We all show it in different ways, like the players will,
03:07 like some of the staff will, including myself.
03:09 And that's just because the club is supporting us as well as it is.
03:15 So I have no problem with any emotion that supporters will show,
03:21 because, like I say, it will only come from the heart of support.
03:25 The Football Club want the best for the Football Club,
03:27 so absolutely no problem with anything.
03:31 Listen, we've lost three on the bounce, two of them are back-to-back at home.
03:34 There's no hiding away from that.
03:36 Own it, talk about it, don't deflect.
03:39 OK, I've talked about the referee's decision,
03:41 but I'm not reflecting from the last three games or the run.
03:45 Own it, work even harder to try and put it right.
03:50 And that's as disappointed as we are.
03:53 That's all we can do.
03:55 Is it telling off your confidence?
03:58 I think that...
04:00 I don't know if confidence is the word, Sarah,
04:03 but I would definitely like to be a lot braver in the final third
04:08 and take more risks and really focus on making the final pass the right one.
04:12 There are too many balls in the air and bobbling into people
04:15 and hitting the wrong foot, should be hitting the back foot,
04:17 hitting the front foot and all that sort of stuff.
04:19 That's the quality that you need at this level to create chances.
04:24 So, yes, that was something that was obvious in the game today.
04:31 It's not as if we haven't been scoring goals, we have.
04:33 We've scored more goals than certainly...
04:38 Well, everything is a lot better than last season,
04:41 but we've certainly scored more goals than last season.
04:44 But tonight we didn't show enough quality to do it.
04:50 Thank you very much.
04:51 Thank you.
