The biggest mystery of the 2024 MLB offseason is Shohei Ohtani’s next destination. All 30 teams want Ohtani, but only a few can afford to pay what is expected to be the most lucrative free-agent contract in North American sports history. Three teams who were in contention to sign Ohtani heading into the offseason—the Rangers, Red Sox and Mets—“have turned their attention to other players,” ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Friday.
