It's time to go behind the scenes of the drama movie Poor Things, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.  Poor Things Cast:  Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley and Kathryn Hunter  Poor Things will hit theaters December 8, 2023!

00:13 The artist and I started talking about poor things in 2017.

00:19 The idea of having a brain that is brand new, what would that be?

00:22 Where did she come from?

00:26 She's an experiment.

00:27 She's progressing at an accelerated pace.

00:30 I was blown away by Bella, by the character.

00:34 I don't think I've ever seen or read anyone like that.

00:38 Working with Emma, that's the reason this film for me was so exciting to make.

00:43 Bella.

00:44 Out. Now!

00:45 My character, the doctor, sees her as an experiment, which at some point reaches a crisis.

00:51 I can't let you go.

00:52 If you do not, Bella shall turn rotten with hate.

00:55 Ahh!

00:56 I must set forth into waters.

00:59 That you could have the kind of mind that isn't taught to be a certain way, I think that's very inspiring.

01:08 All of these things that women are conditioned a whole lifetime through do not apply to her.

01:15 You will confine yourself to three phrases.

01:18 How marvelous, delighted, and how do they make the pastry so crisp, yes?

01:23 You get some very funny situations.

01:26 Oh.

01:30 Emma is unbelievable.

01:33 The development of the brain, it's such a fine line, especially as we shoot things out of order.

01:38 And she's really tracking the progression, not just with her voice, but also with her body.

01:43 It's an incredibly challenging part. It's probably the hardest part I've ever played.

01:46 A woman plotting her course to freedom.

01:49 How delightful.

01:51 Not fool.

01:52 It's a huge leap for her forward. That's incredible to witness.

01:57 I don't know how this could have been made without her.

02:00 I wanted to play Bella because it felt like acceptance of what it is to be a woman,

02:05 what it is to be free, what it is to be confident, and just a little bit f***ed up.

02:11 We will need less of your tongue in the future, but overall most agreeable.

02:16 It just felt like the perfect combination of all of that.
