Former England international Darren Anderton slams VAR for ruining the spirit of football.

00:00 I think it's a good thing and the idea of it is good to get the right decisions, but
00:07 it's not happening and that's a problem.
00:11 There is nothing better than scoring a goal and you should be able to celebrate it and
00:16 not worry that it's going to be chalked off.
00:20 I feel like it's almost a point now, whenever there's a goal scored, you're looking for
00:26 something for it to be ruled out.
00:29 I think that's sad for players to have to be that way because the adrenaline of scoring
00:35 a goal in a Premier League game or in your country, there is no better feeling.
00:42 If it's taken away, it's taken away, but when you've got to stand there for three minutes,
00:45 four minutes, you've got to be able to celebrate those moments.
00:51 They're what you play the game for.
00:53 So unless it gets better, then they're going to have to get rid of it and that's wrong
01:00 because you do want the right decisions in football games.
01:04 But I don't know whether you just go to a point where now you just go like in American
01:09 football, the manager gets a challenge, you get two or three challenges in the match,
01:15 so it doesn't become 100-minute football matches.
