Great British Bake Off Final -Winner revealed and reaction

Karen Wright, a former GBBO contestant, shares her thoughts on this year's winner.  Teacher Matty Edgell becomes the 'underdog' winner of GBBO 2023.

00:00 So the Bake Off 2018 has finally finished. Ten weeks have gone just like that.

00:07 I mean where does the time go? It's mad isn't it?

00:10 Yeah so last night, the final, it was three fellas. Which makes a pleasant change.

00:17 Cops makes pleasant change, see that? So we'd got Josh, we got Dan and we got Matty.

00:23 And yes, well, Matty took first prize. He won the Bake Off.

00:32 And of course, for me, Matty was always an interesting personality.

00:36 I thought I loved him but I did feel like he was a bit of a, like, what is it in horse racing?

00:43 You know, anyway, he came up from the back. I felt he did.

00:46 And when he was presented, I think it was Dan that said,

00:50 "You know you nearly went home six times Matty." They all laughed.

00:54 Because he was like in the dodgy area quite a number of times.

00:58 But he really pulled something out of the bag in the last few weeks.

01:02 And last night, you know, I agreed with the decision. I was pleased.

01:07 And he's such an engaging character. He's got a massive smile and everything.

01:13 And yeah, I was really, really, really thrilled with it.

01:18 So roll on next year. It's always a special time for, well, any Bake Off fans.

01:26 It's a special time when the new series comes on. But for all of us alumni,

01:32 it's a really weird and very special time. And they're taking applications already for next year.
