Wild weather is predicted to impact the Illawarra and South Coast from Tuesday evening and into Wednesday. Video by Nadine Morton

00:00 Overnight we saw a lot of heavy rain across a large swathe of New South Wales, particularly

00:04 in the south coast where it was forecast.

00:07 Areas such as Sassafras and Moorooya and Jervis Bay received over 200mm of rain.

00:13 This led to localised flash flooding in a number of areas, particularly St George's

00:16 Basin, Wrights Beach and Lake Conjolide.

00:19 We undertook a number of rescues overnight, seven at the moment.

00:24 The seventh one is currently underway in Naur at the moment.

00:26 There's no serious danger for anyone there, it's just a car that's driven into flood

00:31 waters.

00:32 Those two people will be extricated very shortly.

00:35 What we're going to continue to see is more heavy rain in the south east corner of the

00:39 state over the next 24 hours.

00:42 We've got forecast falls of over 200mm along various locations on the south coast and the

00:47 potential for falls up to 300mm.

00:50 Of course this will result in further flash flooding.

00:55 We'd like to reiterate to the community to please try and stay safe, avoid using roads

01:00 if possible, and if there's water over the road, please avoid driving in all cases.

01:05 If it's flooded, forget it, turn around and find another route.

01:09 Warning for the Moorooya River out, however we're expected to put a watch and act out

01:14 for the Bega River later today.

01:16 River rises in Bega up to possibly the major level.

01:20 Those forecasts continue to tighten as the rain hits the ground and we get more river

01:25 gauge readings.

01:26 If that is the case, the SES will be conducting door knocking into those areas we expect to

01:31 be impacted to make sure the community is aware of the risk to themselves.
