The United States Securities and Exchange Commission continues to investigate Binance.US, seeking evidence of potential misconduct in handling customer assets. This investigation follows a lawsuit filed by the SEC in June, accusing Binance and its founder, Changpeng Zhao, of participating in a complex conspiracy related to the sale of unregistered securities, including fraud and conflicts of interest. In a hearing on November 27th, Binance.US's attorneys argued that the SEC lacks evidence of asset misuse. Binance and Zhao recently agreed to plead guilty to breaking U.S. Anti-Money Laundering laws as part of a $4.3 billion settlement with several U.S. government agencies. Still, these pleas did not include any of the SEC's fraud-related claims.
