Edinburgh crane collapses into Leith building - Police ask public to avoid the area - video Dailymotion

A massive crane collapsed on a new-build flat in Leith while the driver was still inside.  Emergency crews closed a large section at the bottom of Leith Walk following the incident on Tuesday morning at Stead’s place.  Two patients were treated for injuries at the scene, including the driver and one other site worker.  Police have asked the public to avoid the area.  Pictures: David Armstrong, @DaveComms

00:51 I heard an almighty bang and the building shook and as the building shook I ran outside and just seen a couple of neighbours looking about in bewilderment and we didn't know what happened.

01:01 And then 10 minutes later, 15 minutes later I push, loads and loads of emergency services arrived and then in turn someone told me what had happened.

01:09 One of my neighbours had went round and seen the fact that the crane had collapsed.

01:12 It's just an absolute pandemonium.

01:14 They've closed the walk completely. I think they'll be closing it on this side for the full day.

01:17 One of the police officers just told me the other side will open up to traffic.
