Discount Retailers Set for Strong Holiday Season Amid Inflation Woes
  • 5 months ago
Discount retailers such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, and Burlington are poised to have strong sales this holiday season as inflation squeezes consumers' budgets. While overall holiday retail sales in the US are expected to increase 3-4% according to the NRF, down from last year, discount retailers have been exceeding sales projections in their recent quarterly reports. Analysts say these retailers are gaining market share as consumers trade down from department stores to find bargains. TJ Maxx in particular delivers value by selling expensive brands at low prices and attributes the discount retailer's gains entirely to higher customer traffic.
