Chilgoza, also known as pine nuts, is a type of nut that is native to Afghanistan and northern Pakistan.The demand for Chilgoza has increased significantly with the start of the winter season in Pakistan. At the moment, pine nuts are being sold for Rs. 13,500 per kilogram; last year, it was Rs. 6,000 per killo. The prices of fresh stock of dry fruit are expected to be 70 to 100 percent more expensive than the one currently available in the market in the next few weeks. The owner of the dry fruit shop stated, talking to Abdullah Khan, anchor of Urdupoint, that the highest rate of encroachment occurred in Anjeer; last year it was 2400 rupees per kg, and currently it is 5000 rupees per gram.
