Kendang or kendhang is a gamelan musical instrument from West Java, Indonesia.
This musical instrument is played by hand, without tools.
The small drum is called ketipung, and the medium sized drum is called ciblon/kebar drum. There is another pair of ketipung called kendang gedhe, usually called kendang kalih.
The drum itself is made from the best jackfruit wood and both surfaces are covered with animal skin. which is tightened with wire to regulate the rhythm of the drum.
