00:00 Welcome in to Sports Illustrated's coverage
00:02 of Formula One's Las Vegas Grand Prix,
00:04 presented by Nicola Vultra.
00:05 I'm Claudette Montana, joined alongside Alex Harrington.
00:07 We are here in Las Vegas, Nevada,
00:09 breaking down some top storylines ahead
00:11 of the big race on Saturday.
00:12 So this is a brand new track.
00:14 It's a night race.
00:15 Also, cold temperature is expected on Saturday.
00:18 What challenges are teams up against this weekend?
00:20 Yeah, I mean, look, we're in the desert right now.
00:22 That means it gets so cold during the night, which
00:24 is great, actually, for this candy car behind us.
00:26 It took 275 hours to make that, by the way.
00:31 But anyway, onto the F1.
00:33 The tires, the operating temperature,
00:34 it is going to be very difficult for drivers
00:36 to get heat into those tires.
00:38 That's the one issue they're going to have.
00:40 The other issue, the track's new, newly tarmac, again,
00:43 low traction.
00:43 The third issue is the track is completely
00:46 new to all these teams, all these drivers.
00:47 They don't have any historical data.
00:49 They're going to be running on sim data.
00:51 That means that really, any strategy that they choose,
00:55 like anything in Vegas, is going to be a gamble.
00:57 Well, that chocolate car is making me very hungry.
00:59 It looks very delicious.
01:00 And I could certainly use a snack right now.
01:02 But we're going to segue here and talk about another big
01:04 storyline this weekend.
01:06 The fight for second place, looking pretty good
01:08 right now for Sergio Perez.
01:09 Do you think he can keep that hold on that number two spot?
01:12 Yeah, I mean, Sergio Perez is going
01:13 to be going into this weekend with confidence.
01:15 He loves a street race, which is what Vegas is.
01:18 He only needs to stay seven points ahead of Lewis Hamilton,
01:21 who's currently in third.
01:22 So look, he's going to be looking forward
01:24 to this weekend, I think.
01:25 So much to look forward to here in Vegas.
01:27 And a lot of drivers hoping to finish
01:29 on the podium on Saturday.
01:30 Who should fans be keeping their eyes on?
01:32 I think Ferrari's going to be doing great.
01:34 I think their car is really going to work
01:36 in these lower temperatures.
01:37 I think fan favorite, Fernando Alonso.
01:39 People are going to be looking out for him,
01:40 because talking of a snack, Fernando Alonso.
01:43 And finally, Lando Norris.
01:45 People are going to be watching him.
01:47 People, I mean, they love these guys, don't they?
01:49 I think Mercedes, they're going to struggle
01:50 because of the colder temperatures.
01:52 But look, it's Vegas.
01:53 Fans have been deliberating about what
01:56 they think this track's going to produce.
01:59 I think it's going to be great.
02:00 I think we're in for one hell of a race.
02:02 A lot of Formula One fans already starting to trickle
02:04 in here in Las Vegas.
02:05 The fun is just getting started.
02:07 We have so much more coming at you the rest of this week.
02:09 Alex, thanks so much.
02:10 Appreciate it.
02:10 Thank you.
