Train strikes over the festive period
Further train driver strikes have been announced for December. The Aslef Union announced the action as the dispute over pay continues, suggesting that any meaningful progress on the matter has been slow over the past eighteen months. Here's everything you need to know.

Train drivers will be going on strike between the second and eighth of December, with different train companies being affected on each day. The list of affected services includes amongst others East Midlands Railway, AVANTI West Coast, Gatwick Express and Northern. The Union Aslef say it's because it's time for drivers to receive a proper pay rise.

The Rail Delivery Group however, who represents the operators, are calling the strikes wholly unnecessary. The dispute over pay has been ongoing for eighteen months, with Aslef holding fourteen days of strikes so far over that time.

Some services are expected to be cancelled when the action takes place next month, so check ahead before travelling. Drivers will also be refusing to work any overtime between the first and the ninth of December.
