Zed eyes NSW Senate preselection

00:00 G'day, I'm Zed Seseldza and I'm running to be Liberal Senator for New South Wales.

00:03 I've been married to Roz for nearly 25 years and we have five wonderful kids.

00:08 I was raised by Croatian-Australian parents who instilled in me values like family, faith

00:14 and freedom, hard work and they taught me the value of service and love of country.

00:20 I served as a Minister and as an Assistant Minister across a range of key portfolios.

00:25 Treasury and Finance and Industry, Charities and Social Services through to Foreign Affairs.

00:31 I've campaigned around New South Wales and around the country, key marginal seats.

00:36 And now as my family makes its way as part of the exodus out of Canberra into regional

00:42 New South Wales and we move into Queanbeyan, I believe that I can offer something unique

00:48 to the role of Senator for New South Wales.

00:51 I'm backing Zed Seseldza for the Senate for three reasons.

00:56 First, because as an experienced Senator, party leader and Minister, he won't be a

01:04 politician on training wheels.

01:06 He'll get his feet under the desk from day one.

01:10 Second, because over a significant public life, he's always been a person of courage

01:17 and conviction and third, because he'll be an absolute rock solid member of Peter Dutton's

01:23 team and that's what we need.

01:25 We need a united, cohesive, committed team in the run up to the next election which is

01:32 absolutely winnable.

01:33 Over the past few months, like many of you, I've been working hard to defeat Labor's

01:39 divisive voice referendum.

01:41 I believe the success of our party in prosecuting the case against the voice is a demonstration

01:47 that when we stand up for our values, we can bring the Australian people with us.

01:52 The voice debate has shown that when we choose a disciplined platform to fight from, that

01:59 we can win and to deliver more of those platforms, more of those policy agendas that will win

02:06 for our side.

02:07 I need people like Zed Seselja here in Canberra, so I'd love for you to choose him as the

02:11 next Senator for New South Wales.

02:14 So now, we as a party have a choice to make.

02:17 Do we retreat and become just a pale imitation of Labor or a lighter shade of teal or do

02:24 we fight?

02:25 I believe we should fight and fight hard for conservative and liberal values and bring

02:30 the Australian people with us.

02:32 Zed Seselja has a proven track record as an outstanding government minister in strategic

02:37 portfolios, including international development and economics, as a person who has shown his

02:43 ability to fight for and win seats that wouldn't normally go to the Liberal Party and as someone

02:48 who has the courage of his convictions.

02:50 We should fight for sovereignty through strong borders, a strong military and a sensible

02:55 energy policy which includes nuclear power.

02:58 We have to fight against cancel culture and the attempts by the government to censor opinions

03:03 that they don't agree with.

03:05 We need to stand up against the woke indoctrination of our kids in schools and against the left-wing

03:10 bias in the ABC.

03:12 We should continue to fight to lower the cost of living and to support families and small

03:17 business.

03:18 And we also have to fight for freedom of speech and freedom of religion and against attacks

03:23 on people of faith.

03:24 And we need to have the courage to say that our current levels of immigration are too

03:29 high.

03:30 They're putting too much strain on our cities and they are making it increasingly difficult

03:34 for our young people to be able to afford a home of their own.

03:46 I served with Zed from 2015 to 2022.

03:50 I know Zed and I know he's a man of character, he's a man of conviction and he's a man of

03:55 integrity.

03:56 He's served in senior roles within the last Liberal government and I'm confident that

04:00 he would be a very good representative for our party if he were to be pre-selected for

04:05 the Senate.

04:06 So if you want a Senator with a record of fighting for our values inside and outside

04:11 the Parliament and with the experience and the capacity to deliver, then please give

04:16 me your first preference on November 26.
