00:10 What if we skip over all that hoping?

00:12 What if we skip over all of the pleading and the begging

00:15 and the marching and the shouting

00:18 and go straight to the power?

00:19 During the great migration,

00:20 about 6 million black people left the South

00:23 for cities in the North and West.

00:25 I suggest that black people return to the States

00:27 with the highest percentages already of black people

00:30 where they can gain political power.

00:32 If we're gonna make a go of it,

00:33 the South makes a lot of sense.

00:38 I was shaken and nervous,

00:40 maybe even afraid about leaving New York for Atlanta.

00:44 I've convinced myself that this is what we must do

00:47 as black people.

00:48 I don't know if you could convince that many people

00:51 to move that way.

00:52 The argument of like, "Hey, go South,"

00:54 is that much different from,

00:56 "Hey, up North, let's get this together."

00:58 You are encouraging black Chicago to stay here,

01:00 stay intact. I know.

01:01 This is our city.

01:04 I want for black boys to live in a world

01:08 where they do not have to think

01:09 about protecting their humanity.

01:12 Those who don't wanna see sharing of that power

01:16 will do all that they can to waylay that situation.

01:18 There is the X factor of these voter suppression bills.

01:21 Every freedom is at stake.

01:25 There are some things in life that are bigger than you.

01:28 It has to be about community success.

01:32 We are the Calvary we've been waiting on.

01:34 I have to figure out if I am being an apostle

01:38 of black power or am I chasing windmills?
