A Sunday League footballer is set to be nominated for the next FIFA Puskás Award after scoring a wonder back-heel goal - without even looking.

A clip of Charlie Unwin's wonder goal, which which helped his team Chells Rovers beat their opponents The Cock 5-4 on Sunday, has been shared widely online.

The video captures the moment the ball is crossed over Charlie's head before he instinctively stretches out his left left to back heel it into the goal.

Charlie, 23, is then seen celebrating the incredible finish with his team mates, who jump on top of the striker.

Some people have even suggested his goal should be nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award, which is given to a player who scores the 'most beautiful' goal of the year.

The award is named in honour of legendary Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskás, who starred for Real Madrid in the 1950s and 60s.

Previous winners of the award are Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Marcin Oleksy, Wendell Lira and Mohamed Salah.

Charlie, of Stevenage, Herts,. said: "I couldn't believe it, when I saw it going in the top corner.

"A rush of adrenaline went through me - when I ran off celebrating, I was thinking of celebrations but I just stumbled to the floor, I couldn't even pick my feet up.

"My teammate's flicked the ball high up, scooped it, and I could see the defender coming into my right side.

"So I shielded the defender off, wrapped my leg round him to try and get a connection on it, and it came off."

Charlie, a striker who plays in the number ten role, has been at Chells Rovers in Stevenage, Herts., for two years.

He's received messages from around the world, with strangers getting in touch 'to say it's the best goal they've ever seen.'

One person commented on Facebook: "Puskas award winner right there - great finish."

Another agreed and said: "Got to be shortlisted for the Puskas award."

Someone else said: "That was an absolutely banging goal."

Although he's never been offered a deal with a semi-pro team, Charlie says he would 'definitely' accept one if he had the chance.

He said: "Listen, if somebody comes in now, I'd definitely play a bit of semi-pro."
