01:23 the cast won Outstanding Comedy Series

01:25 with the Emmys in 2021 and 2022,

01:28 and they won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance

01:30 by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2022.

01:34 Winning all of those awards was merited,

01:36 and it's a good thing Hannah was a part of it,

01:38 as she almost decided not to.

01:40 "Axis Hollywood" chatted with the 49-year-old

01:42 "Game of Thrones" actress back in September 2021

01:45 after she won an Emmy

01:46 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in "Ted Lasso,"

01:49 and she revealed why she almost passed

01:51 on the now-iconic role.

01:53 - I was talking to Jason.

01:54 I've spoken with Brett about the magic of "Ted Lasso."

01:57 When did you realize you guys had something special?

02:00 Was it pretty immediate or did it take time?

02:02 - Very early on.

02:03 I mean, I was only sent the pilot

02:06 and only Rebecca Welton's sides for that,

02:09 and I read it and I got annoyed 'cause I just thought,

02:11 "Oh, do you know what?

02:13 "There's no point in me going in for this

02:15 "because they'll go for some famous-y, famouser."

02:19 And I thought, "Well, I'll go along anyway,"

02:21 but it just annoys me 'cause I really,

02:23 I really would love this, and I knew,

02:25 and I knew how much it had got under my skin

02:28 and how much it was irritating me

02:29 that I thought I wasn't gonna get it.

02:31 That's when you know that something is precious.

02:34 - I love that.

02:35 So beautifully said and so true.

02:36 You talked about the fact

02:37 that it was your daughter's illness

02:39 that actually got you to the point

02:40 where you decided to audition?

02:42 - Yeah, well, no, she had been very ill.

02:43 I was shooting on "Crypton" in Belfast for Warner Brothers,

02:47 and I said to my rep, both here and in London,

02:50 "I can't have that moment

02:52 "where I can't get back to my girl again,

02:54 "so if it's something at home, then fine."

02:56 Then this meeting came in, and I was like,

02:59 "I would love to do that, but I can't.

03:02 "I know that the meeting,

03:03 "the chemistry read would be in LA and blah, blah, blah."

03:05 And then I came over here, and I said to Jason,

03:08 once we'd been kinda hanging for a while,

03:10 I went, "So where are you gonna shoot this?"

03:12 And he went, "Richmond," and I went,

03:14 "Richmond, as in like half an hour from my house?"

03:19 And I thought, "I'm gonna rugby tackle

03:21 "any woman to the ground who thinks she's having

03:22 "this part over me, and it's mine, mine."

03:26 - I would love to see that rugby tackle.

03:29 - I was literally like the eyes went, "You, you."

03:32 - Listen, you are too statuesque and gorgeous.

03:35 I would run the other way, you talk,

03:37 I'm like, "Mm-mm, that's your role, girl, that's your role.

03:39 "You have it."

03:40 - In my life, I was just like, "Ooh, it's mine."

03:43 - Oh, no.
