Luis Diaz’s father revealed shocking details of his kidnapping after he was safely released following the twelve-day ordeal. Luis Manuel Diaz was kidnapped by the Colombian guerilla group, the National Liberation Army (ELN), along with his wife, Cilenis Marulanda. While Marulanda was rescued within hours, Diaz was kept against his will for nearly two weeks, which he spoke about at a press conference. "It was a lot of horseback riding, a lot of mountains, a lot of rain, too many insects. I couldn’t sleep peacefully. It was difficult. Almost 12 days without sleep," said Luis Manuel Diaz. Diaz’s captors told him to remain calm, and while he admitted “the treatment was good,” he said, “I didn’t feel very comfortable." Despite the terrifying ordeal, news of which spread across the globe, Diaz said he has no intention of moving from his home. "My aspirations are to continue in my town because I have my entire family in my town. The government has given me great support. I trust and have faith that it will provide me security to be in Barrancas," Diaz added. Colombian police said it arrested four suspects, while the leader of the ELN reportedly admitted it was a “mistake” to kidnap Diaz.
