00:00 >> Well, what, really?
00:01 You just turn, I mean, walk in, get on over here.
00:04 Dan, so, hi.
00:07 Dan's on over here.
00:08 >> Just slide with it, slide.
00:11 Just get it.
00:11 >> Look, Brian, are you bringing these moves to the stage?
00:13 >> I'm bringing like the, what is it?
00:15 The old moves.
00:18 The electric slide.
00:20 >> Slide to the left, slide to the right.
00:23 I'm so happy and so is everyone else to see this parent again at the CMA Awards.
00:28 >> Why were you game to come back with Peyton this year?
00:30 >> Well, literally right when we walked off stage last year,
00:34 some of the CMA execs and ABC people were,
00:40 they were already going, we wanna get you guys back.
00:42 So we kind of agreed really early in the process.
00:47 >> No way.
00:48 >> And that's the main thing.
00:49 I mean, I think the thing about this is Peyton,
00:53 he likes just to be around it and watch the music.
00:57 And during rehearsals, if we had a ten minute dead time,
01:02 he's out there watching everybody perform.
01:06 And he just really, and even on, we'll do some golf trips every now and then.
01:12 And so I used to show up to these golf trips.
01:16 Well, Peyton would have a guitar that was just not that great of a guitar.
01:21 So I've learned when you go on, you better take your favorite guitar with you.
01:26 >> Right, right.
01:27 >> Cuz Peyton's gonna force you to play something.
01:30 >> My, you gotta make sure you sound great.
01:32 >> Well, yeah, at least the guitar sounds great.
01:35 And after I'm golfing all day, breathing in grass, smoking cigars.
01:40 >> Having a little brewski.
01:41 >> Yeah, sitting by the campfire, I'm sounding a little rough.
01:45 >> Blaze, you're rough is still awesome.
01:47 And we're gonna hear some of that awesomeness tonight on the CMA stage,
01:50 cuz you were bringing us a medley.
01:51 >> Yeah, we're gonna do a little medley, so.
01:53 >> So good, you've had so many number ones.
01:56 What is one word to describe the performance tonight?
01:59 >> Well, it's, from my end, it's really, gosh, one word.
02:06 I don't know, I mean, the fact that I've had 30 number ones and
02:10 then I get the opportunity to do a medley of them on stage and have fun.
02:16 I mean, obviously, I didn't pick my sad songs, which there's not a lot of sad
02:20 songs, but I went with the big old, with the fun numbers.
02:24 >> We love a fun number from you, Luke.
02:27 >> But if I could pick one word, I'm just humbled by,
02:33 humbled by moving to town, creating this crazy career.
02:39 And it's just been fun the whole way, and
02:42 now somehow I figured out how to host this thing.
02:45 >> I know, I'll tell you something else that'll humble you.
02:47 So Dave and Charles from Lady A said they basically put you on the map,
02:51 because they co-wrote I Do With You, which is your first number one song.
02:53 What do you have to say to the guys?
02:55 >> To them?
02:55 >> Yeah. >> I mean,
02:56 I just wanna give them all the credit, the emotional support.
03:00 They drove out to my house at the time, which was 920 square feet.
03:09 And that was including the Porsches.
03:13 >> My God, and look at you now.
03:15 >> I think we spent a lot of time riding it on the porch, but yeah, I mean,
03:18 back in the day, Dave and Charles and all of the Lady A guys certainly
03:24 jump started and kick started my career.
03:27 And we've certainly had a lot of laughs, a lot of fun through the years.
03:29 >> Look where you are now.
03:31 >> It's pretty wild.
03:32 >> Finishing up your Vegas residency, you got a docuseries coming out with Peyton.
03:36 >> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:36 >> I mean, y'all love to work together.
03:38 >> Well, I mean, you wanna do things that, at this point in my career,
03:43 I wanna do things and gravitate to enjoyment.
03:46 >> Right.
03:47 >> So that's the main thing about working with Peyton or anything going forward.
03:53 It's like, gotta make sure I'm really having fun up there and
03:58 just making the most of, heck, where I'm at in my career.
04:03 I mean, I still get to go do amazing shows and
04:06 had one of our best touring years ever, and I'm like, people keep showing up.
