The incident, which happened at 4.20am on Wednesday morning, shows the man approaching the door before attempting to turn the handle. He then quickly walks away.
The incident happened in the Corstorphine area, on Craigmount View. It's unclear if any other homes in the area were targeted.
Eddie Wong, who has shared the footage with Edinburgh Live, says he wants others in the area to ensure they're locking their doors.
