Israel-Hamas: Health conditions at Gaza IDP camp a 'catastrophe'

As deaths and injuries in Gaza continue to rise due to intensified hostilities, intense overcrowding and disrupted health, water, and sanitation systems pose an added danger: the rapid spread of infectious diseases.

World Health Organization Public Health Officer Itimad Al Madhoun warns the UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) Shelter in the Khan Yunis camp needs medicine, food and a clean place.

"The situation is horrific. The health conditions are really bad, a catastrophe," an internally displaced woman tells the WHO, adding that "the garbage and the diseases are affecting the children." (Video Courtesy of WHO / AFP)
