First Look: 2010 Cadillac SRX Video

00:00 One of the stars of the 2009 Detroit show is Cadillac's all new SRX crossover.

00:11 The new SRX ditches the rear drive platform of the current model in favour of a new front

00:16 drive based architecture that combines hardware from the Chevy Equinox SUV and the next generation

00:22 Buick LaCrosse sedan.

00:24 As a result the new SRX has dramatically different proportions and much more compact dimensions.

00:30 Overall length is down 4.8 inches and the wheelbase has shrunk by 5.5 inches.

00:37 But the new SRX is a much more upscale looking vehicle.

00:41 The exterior styling is an aggressive take on the refined art and science design language

00:45 revealed on the 2008 Cadillac CTS.

00:49 Inside the interior features more dramatic and modern design and higher quality materials.

00:55 Due to its smaller interior package the new SRX will not be available with third row seating.

01:02 Two engines will be offered, both V6s.

01:05 Base engine will be a 3 litre direct injection unit that's basically a de-bored and de-stroked

01:10 version of the 3.6 litre found in the Cadillac CTS.

01:14 This engine will offer 260 horsepower and 221 pound feet of torque.

01:20 Optional engine will be a 2.8 litre turbo with 300 horsepower and 295 pound feet of

01:27 torque.

01:28 Both engines are mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

01:33 All wheel drive is optional.

01:35 GM claims the 3 litre will tow 2,500 pounds and the turbo 3,500 pounds.

01:42 Highway fuel consumption will be about 25 miles per gallon for both.

01:46 The new Cadillac SRX is scheduled to go on sale mid year.
