What will become of Gaza's children?

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), an average of 420 children are killed or injured in the Gaza Strip every day. But what happens to the children who survive this war?

00:00 In Gaza, women and children are at the heart of an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe.

00:07 According to the World Health Organization, on average, 160 children are killed and hundreds

00:12 injured every day in the Gaza Strip.

00:16 More than 4,000 children have been confirmed dead and more than 1,500 are missing, assumed

00:21 dead under the rubble.

00:25 Children now under intense bombardments all day and night.

00:30 They are lacking food, water, electricity, medicine, everything.

00:37 And on top of that, without electricity, you can't imagine the horror and fear they are

00:43 living when it's completely dark and the only sound they hear is just the sound of bombardments.

00:55 Families are facing harsh conditions, with the lack of clean water, food and medical

00:59 care and facilities such as schools and hospitals overwhelmed.

01:03 Collapsing and destroyed sanitation systems are increasing the risk of spreading waterborne

01:08 diseases, including cholera.

01:10 And what about the longer-term issues of growing up in a war zone?

01:13 "So we are risking a generation that is not going to be able to be productive adults,

01:20 not going to be able to interact with their surroundings and be as productive as they

01:26 can be.

01:27 They will not reach their full potential.

01:29 And of course, there's the issue of the cycle of violence and we're creating violence.

01:34 Violence never is the solution.

01:36 Violence only produces violence.

01:38 And I think the sole solution for this is to stop violence and find a solution, a political

01:46 solution for the conflict."
