00:22 And Britney states that her dad frequently commented on her weight, even calling her

00:30 fat, as well as he imposed a rigid diet on her, and he wanted to have control over keeping

00:35 her body in the perfect shape so that she could earn more money for him.

00:40 This is what Britney Spears goes on to write in her memoir, "The irony was that we had

00:44 a butler, an extravagance, and I would beg him for real food."

00:53 She at times even pleaded to get a burger or some ice cream to eat, you know.

01:04 However her appeals were reportedly turned down due to the strict directives from her

01:11 father.

01:12 Britney Spears goes on to make these claims in her book also,

01:15 "So for two years I ate almost nothing but chicken and canned vegetables.

01:20 Two years is a long time to not be able to eat what you want, especially when it's

01:25 your body and your work and your soul making the money that everyone's living off of.

01:31 Two years of asking for french fries and being told no, I found it so degrading."

01:37 I could imagine going two weeks without a burger, at least, right?

01:43 Britney then reveals that since someone else controlled her food choices, she no longer

01:48 felt ownership over her body.

01:51 And she admits this, and I quote, "I felt scared.

01:54 I'll be honest, I was effing miserable."

01:57 Despite the rigorous diet though, she noticed that she was still gaining weight, which of

02:02 course is the opposite of what her father wanted.

02:05 And here's how Britney describes this strange phenomenon, you know, on such a strict diet,

02:10 but still gaining weight.

02:12 Here's what she said, "Even though I wasn't eating as much, he made me feel so ugly and

02:16 like I wasn't good enough.

02:18 Maybe that's because of the power of your thoughts.

02:22 Whatever you think you are, you become."

02:23 Her memoir goes on to expose even more details, and she said that she obeyed her father's

02:29 orders because she was so beaten down that she just surrendered.

02:34 And Britney reveals that she had grown used to people commenting on her body due to media

02:40 scrutiny and family discussions.

02:42 "Britney Spears has been faced with a decade-long nightmare, a Kafkaesque nightmare, orchestrated

02:48 by her father."

02:50 And despite her being able to carry children, as well as performing flawlessly on stage,

02:58 and in pretty good condition physically, she found it strange that every single calorie

03:07 that she put in her body was being monitored for somebody else's profit.

03:11 And she noted further frustration, saying that she was the only one who found this situation

03:17 completely unreasonable.

03:20 Other people were like, "Yeah, it makes sense that your diet is so restricted and your calories

03:25 are all being counted like this.

03:26 Yeah, it does."

03:27 She's the only one that was like, "What is this?"

03:30 And guys, take a listen to this excerpt from the book.

03:33 "My family would stay in Destin, a pretty beach town in Florida, at a ridiculously beautiful

03:40 condo that I bought for them and eat good-tasting food every night while I was starving and

03:47 working."

03:48 Wow, this sounds like slavery, guys.

03:52 In addition to all of that, Britney Spears also asserts that her father, Jamie, compelled

03:57 her to undergo rehab in 2014 during her Las Vegas residency, stating, "I'm Britney Spears

04:04 now."

04:05 And this, of course, insinuated it was pretty much all for financial gain.

04:09 Like he was in charge of her persona, and that was it.

04:13 She had to listen to him, whatever he said.

04:15 Although her 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021,

04:19 "I'm so pleased and proud to say Jamie Spears is no longer a conservator."

04:29 Jamie was suspended from his guardianship responsibilities almost two months earlier

04:33 due to alleged abusive behavior.
