Hair at O’Neills in High Street, Fareham, up for a few awards.

00:02 What about the salon here?

00:04 Okay, so this is Hair at O'Neill's on the High Street in Fairham.

00:08 So we opened last October, so October 2022.

00:12 We were a team that had worked together previously for many years,

00:16 so a really solid team, which is great.

00:18 And then I finally decided to bite the bullet and open a salon last year.

00:22 So yeah, so here we are. It's obviously not all been plain sailing.

00:25 The day I got the keys, we came in and the ceiling fell down,

00:29 which just sums up my luck, really.

00:31 But we got through it, and here we are, a year on,

00:34 going better than I ever could have thought it would have done,

00:36 with the most amazing team around me.

00:38 And we've actually been nominated for some awards,

00:40 which we are going to London on Sunday,

00:42 with one of the other salons that we work really closely with around here,

00:45 which is called Martell.

00:47 So yeah, so it's going really, really well.

00:48 Couldn't have hoped for it to have gone better.

00:50 So tell me how it feels to finally run your own business

00:54 and have that team around you.

00:56 Oh my God, absolutely amazing.

00:57 I wanted to do it for years, but after working for someone else,

01:00 I was so scared that it would be more stressful.

01:02 And it is nowhere near as stressful as I thought.

01:05 I think it's so nice to actually be in control

01:07 and be the one making the decisions.

01:09 If something's not right, someone's not happy, you can fix it.

01:12 And like I said, we are so close that, you know,

01:14 there's never any worry of everyone not being able to come to me.

01:17 We have a chat. We all, you know, bounce on each other's ideas.

01:20 And yeah, it's just the most amazing thing.

01:21 I should have done it years ago.

01:22 So tell me what awards you're up for.

01:24 Okay, so we're up for three awards.

01:26 So we entered for Best Salon Team,

01:29 which is obviously massively important to me.

01:31 New or Refurbished Salon,

01:33 which obviously would be great to win that as well.

01:36 And Shara, one of my amazing stylists,

01:39 we've put her forward for Colorist of the Year.

01:42 She's amazing at what she does.

01:44 And yeah, we've got through to the finals

01:45 for all three of them, which is amazing.

01:47 How would it feel to win them?

01:49 Absolutely incredible.

01:50 I mean, yeah, it would just be, it would be amazing.

01:53 I mean, it's everything that, you know,

01:55 is important to us, especially with the team and everything.

01:57 Like we really, really thrive on the fact that we're a strong team.

01:59 We're friendly. You know, we spend a lot of time at work together.

02:03 And clients quite often pick up on that when they come in that,

02:05 you know, we are really sort of really close.

02:08 So to win them, any of them,

02:09 but especially Best Salon Team for me would mean everything

02:12 because I feel like it is very strongly like who we are as people.

02:15 And obviously your confidence will go through the roof

02:18 after only being open for just over a year.

02:20 Oh my God, yeah.

02:21 I mean, if somebody told me a year ago that we'd be here now,

02:23 I mean, I remember laying in bed the night before I opened the salon

02:25 thinking, what am I doing?

02:27 And here we are a year on and it's been the best thing.

02:29 And yeah, and now we're obviously, you know, about to go to London,

02:32 you know, so yeah, it would be absolutely amazing.
