Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour on Thursday told a special session of the U.N. General Assembly that more than 7,000 civilians have been killed by Israeli bombs since October 7th, with 3,000 children among the casualties.
Transcript
00:00 "7,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel in the last almost three weeks.
00:14 Seventy percent of all those killed are women and children.
00:22 Almost all killed are civilians.
00:26 Is this the war some of you are defending?
00:30 3,000 children in Gaza were killed by Israel in the last almost three weeks.
00:38 I repeat, 3,000 children, innocent children, angels killed in Gaza during the last three
00:50 weeks.
00:51 Nothing can justify the killing of a single Palestinian child.
00:57 Nothing.
00:59 Nothing at all.
01:01 Why not feel a sense of urgency to end our killing?
01:08 Nothing can, as I said, justify war crimes.
01:13 You are sitting us back 80 years by trying to justify what Israel is doing now.
01:22 People are ordered to evacuate.
01:26 They look at their children.
01:29 Should we head south?
01:31 Will we be bombed on the way or once there?
01:37 Should we go to a hospital courtyard, a U.N. school, a church, a mosque, sleep in our car
01:46 in the streets?
01:48 But bombs are everywhere.
01:51 Israel has destroyed over 40 percent of all homes, making an entire population homeless
01:59 and displaced.
02:01 We don't need you to offer us semantic reassurances about IHL and protection of civilians.
02:10 We need you to honor these norms, honor these norms, not recall them only to justify their
02:20 breach seconds later.
02:24 This selective outrage is outrageous and needs to stop and needs to stop now.
02:32 (Applause.)
