The 8th edition of the Vuelta de San Lorenzo, 12th round of the 1991 Turismo Carretera championship, was marred by the death of a young flagman, Ángel Valensise who was struck by Luis Alberto Miraldi's Chevrolet Coupe Super 250.

The race was held on Sunday, 03 November 1991, on a new track named "Circuito Semipermanente Octavio Justo Suarez", a few kms north of the town of San Lorenzo, province of Santa Fe, Argentina. The venue was part of the original public roads course of the Vuelta de San Lorenzo. On 13th of 16 laps of the final race, Luis Alberto Miraldi who had finished 8th in his heat, ran out of brakes on the approach to the 90-degree turn before the pits. The car went straight and struck the flagman Ángel Valensise after crossing the run-off area. Gravely injured, the marshal was immediately taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, but died during the transport.

Coming from Villa Tesei, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ángel Valensise aged 24, was a member of the security staff, operating at San Lorenzo as a flagman. He vainly tried to escape, running in front of the out of control car. Several accounts show his surname as Belencise.

After the accident, the race was immediately stopped 3 laps ahead of schedule, and the final classification was taken by the previous 12th lap. Oscar Raúl Aventín in a Ford Falcon was the winner averaging 141.676 km/h, being Roberto Mouras 2nd in a Chevrolet. Miraldi was classified 11th.
