00:44 I started hearing whispers

00:48 about Thrawn's return

00:52 as heir to the Empire.

01:06 The Jedi fell a long time ago.

02:14 master-apprentice relationships.

02:16 - Remember, a Jedi can feel the force flowing through him.

02:20 - It's very much the idea of apprenticeship.

02:22 The need for those two groups to come together

02:24 in order to pass down the knowledge

02:25 and to help save the world,

02:27 in the case of Star Wars.

02:28 - When I left you, I was but the learner.

02:30 Now I am the master.

02:32 - Only a master of evil, sir.

02:34 - All of that wisdom gets passed down

02:36 over those generations.

02:38 We have Qui-Gon Jinn, who's the master of Obi-Wan,

02:40 who's the master of Anakin Skywalker.

02:42 And by being trained by Anakin,

02:44 Ahsoka was part of that legacy as well.

02:50 Ahsoka is a character that Dave Filoni created

02:53 and worked with George Lucas on in the Clone Wars.

02:56 - Originally, we didn't know exactly

02:58 what the Clone Wars was gonna be.

02:59 And there was a Jedi and there was a Padawan

03:01 and thought we'll put them on adventures.

03:03 But George had other ideas.

03:05 He says, "Well, let's give Anakin Skywalker a Padawan."

03:09 And I was like, "Anakin doesn't have Padawan."

03:12 And he just looked at me and said,

03:14 "Anakin has a Padawan."

03:16 And that was basically it.

03:17 That's how Ahsoka came about.

03:19 - I started hearing whispers

03:21 of Thrawn's return as heir to the Empire.

03:25 - What happens when we find Thrawn?

03:29 - Power, such as you've never dreamed.

03:32 - I've spent most of my life fighting a war.

03:39 That's why I'm trying to convince you

03:42 to help me prevent another one.

03:44 - You and I both know who could help you with this.

03:48 - She's still just as stubborn as ever.

03:51 - I bet your master found you difficult at times.

03:54 - Anakin never got to finish my training.

03:57 I walked away from him,

03:58 just like I walked away from Sabine.

04:00 - You never made things easy for me,

04:03 master.

04:06 - We cast Ashley Eckstein to be the voice of the character.

04:11 And she's fantastic in the Clone Wars and Rebels.

04:14 - For a character that has such depth and complexity,

04:17 to bring that to live action

04:19 made a tremendous amount of sense.

04:21 - Rosario Dawson is such an incredibly powerful actress,

04:24 and she loves this character.

04:27 - I'm playing someone who is an absolute expert.

04:30 I really wanted to be able to physicalize that

04:32 as much as possible.

04:33 - There need to be a lot of lightsaber fights,

04:34 and they have to be good,

04:36 'cause our fans know the difference.

04:37 - No matter how tired I was, I was like,

04:40 sign me up for some more, sign me up for some more.

04:43 - When you step into Star Wars,

04:46 you are part of a legacy.

04:48 And we had to uphold that history,

04:50 and yet do this completely new and different thing.

04:52 From the beginning of this series,

04:56 Ahsoka is out there on the fringe of the galaxy.

04:58 When she hears whispers of this warlord's return,

05:03 she decides to enlist her friends' help.

05:05 - This is about preventing another war.

05:09 - You know who could help?

05:09 - Sabine Wren.

05:10 - I'm not sure she'll want to help.

05:12 - I'm telling the story about this mentor,

05:15 student relationship that passes

05:16 from Anakin to Ahsoka to Sabine.

05:18 - There is nothing easy about being a Jedi.

05:22 - It's quite extraordinary, bringing this to life.

05:26 - Sometimes we have to do what's right,

05:29 regardless of our personal feelings.

05:31 - Buckle up.

05:34 - If we don't stop Thrawn, everything will be in vain.
