Heartbroken Chesterfield man takes us through his flooded home

Mark Allen, 53, of Windermere Road, Clay Cross, says he's lost everything after Stoim Babet downpours breached his home, leaving him with 12 inches of water in his living room and kitchen.

00:00 It's Friday 20th of October 2023 I'm just going down the stairs.

00:12 I'm stood in 12 inch of water in the hallway. It's breached this morning.

00:19 As I go into the front room.

00:27 Everything is just floating. It's that wet.

00:31 There's wedding photos.

00:34 We've lost everything.

00:37 Wedding videos.

00:39 So basically everybody on our road which is Windermere Road in Claycross have lost everything.

00:48 It's 12 inch of water inside the house. Probably 18 inch of water outside the house.

00:54 And this is all due to the planning authority.

00:58 Kitchen.

01:00 As you go into the kitchen.

01:04 You can see the kitchen is all gone.

01:11 The dining room is gone. Everything in the garage is gone.

01:20 As you look you can see through the back. The back garden is totally flooded.

01:26 And everything in the kitchen is flooded.

01:31 And then if I walk to the front of the house.

01:44 You can see the front of the house is flooded. The road is flooded. Black and raging torrent.
