00:00 Shubman, this is your first World Cup in half a century.
00:07 After two matches, your first half century is done.
00:13 What was your reaction?
00:15 Obviously felt nice.
00:18 When I was a little sick, I was feeling a bit disappointed on missing out on those opportunities.
00:26 But definitely felt nice to get some game time.
00:30 Shubman, the team seems to be very comfortable while chasing targets.
00:36 Could you talk a bit about your approach and how confident you, Rohit, Virat seem?
00:41 Just the approach while chasing, is it something that all of you are very comfortable with?
00:46 You can see how confident they are, the way they are scoring runs.
00:52 Definitely, this is one of the things that was talked about, especially leading up to the World Cup.
00:58 We were not chasing those big totals that well.
01:05 But having won all the four matches while chasing, I think it's a great way to have that momentum with us in those big games that we'll have moving forward.
01:14 Shubman, were all of you surprised when that wide was attempted with Virat being on the cusp of a 100 just before the match?
01:25 Surprised with what? The decision or the attempt?
01:28 The wide wing.
01:30 First, let's start with that.
01:32 I don't know if he actually intentionally tried to bowl wide or he was just trying to keep it tight and then went away.
01:42 Shubman, Akhil pulled off a splendid catch today.
01:46 How vital is he in terms of the scheme of the team and the kind of keeping skills he brings to the table and as a batter?
01:53 More on the keeping skills.
01:55 We have all seen his keeping skills.
01:58 He's someone who's constantly improving and working on his keeping.
02:03 We all saw that today when he took that catch.
02:06 It's not easy for any wicket-keeper to take catches down the leg.
02:10 I think the way he's moving and the way he's keeping is quite brilliant.
02:15 Shubman, as an athlete, how hard is it to come back from such a falling ill and come back as soon as you did and play as well as you have so far?
02:25 Could you talk about your journey over the last 15 days personally on that front?
02:30 I think you have to be mentally willing to go out there and that's what I was thinking when I was there.
02:41 I lost a few kilos in the process but hopefully I'll be able to gain that back.
02:47 Shubman, bowling-wise, in the middle overs, we have turned it around very well.
02:54 Against Australia, after the early loss, even David Warner and Steven Smith had a good partnership.
03:01 Today, the same. Even Pakistan had a good start.
03:05 Anything you want to say about middle over bowling and what is the strategy, cross seam bowling and double spin attack?
03:12 I think leading up to the World Cup, especially when we were playing in Sri Lanka, the wickets were assisting spin.
03:18 But here, I don't think after the first match there was much assistance for the spinners.
03:25 But the way they have bowled in the middle overs have been exceptional and that's been actually game-changing for us.
03:30 At one point, we were looking at maybe 300-320 the way their openers were batting.
03:36 But the way, especially in the middle overs, our bowlers are coming in, especially spinners,
03:42 and getting us those crucial breakthroughs and keeping the pressure on the batsmen, that's a big difference for us.
03:49 We are going to the same template in four consecutive matches, bowling first and then batting.
03:55 Is there a discussion in the team about which match we should bat first if we win the toss?
04:00 And another question related to that, our next match is against New Zealand, we haven't beaten them in the ICC tournament since 2003.
04:07 So if there is a discussion about this in the team?
04:10 There hasn't been much discussion about this, that we haven't beaten them in the ICC tournament since 2003.
04:17 But hopefully, we will try to change that in the next match.
04:21 And I think when we bat first, we know which template to go with.
04:27 And we have made big scores quite regularly.
04:33 When we chase big scores, I think, especially in big tournaments, it is important to chase.
04:47 And when you get confidence with the batsmen, it helps a lot in big matches.
04:52 And I think the coach and the captain have a bigger role in deciding which team to chase first.
05:00 Obviously, we will see the wicket as well, what are the conditions for batting later.
05:05 Subman, how are you and Hardik Pandya got injured today, what is his condition now?
05:17 Sir, we went for a scan, now we are waiting for the results.
05:25 What are the results from the scan?
05:29 Subman, could you talk about the approach during the chase?
05:33 Was there a set target in terms of the number of overs that you wanted to achieve?
05:38 And what were the conditions like, the pitch, did it change in the middle overs, in the first and second innings?
05:43 And how was the outfield like?
05:45 I don't think the pitch changed much, honestly. It was a good batting wicket.
05:49 And the approach while chasing, Rohit Bhai has been batting exceptionally well and he has been all guns blazing,
05:59 especially while chasing and I think that is giving us the right momentum.
06:03 And then it is easier for the batsmen who are coming in when the run rate is around 4 or 5 in chasing.
06:16 According to you, whose catch is most spectacular and difficult among Jadeja and Kale?
06:21 And will you please share something and throw light on how much effort you all are spending on improving fielding standards?
06:29 We all spend a lot of time on our fielding because I think as a batsman and a bowler,
06:35 as a batsman I don't know how many balls I will face in the match.
06:38 But I know for sure that I will be there for 50 overs and I will field for 50 overs, same for bowlers.
06:42 They know that they are going to bowl maybe 8, 9, 10 overs but they have to field for 50 overs.
06:49 And as a cricketer I think it is a very important skill and we keep upping our fielding skills whenever we get the chance.
06:59 And I think both the catches were fantastic in terms of where the game was at that point of time.
07:07 I can't single out because both were spectacular.
07:10 Who will get the best fielders medal?
07:13 You will see on the Indian cricket team page soon.
07:16 Shubman, playing in your first World Cup and batting with Rohit and Kulik,
07:26 what does it mean for you and what do you look to gain from this particular World Cup?
07:32 To see them, how they go about their business in World Cup and in big games is what I always try to learn from them.
07:41 I think there is a fine line between sometimes being too aggressive or going in the shell,
07:47 especially playing big games.
07:49 But I think the way they play, the way their mindset is playing those big games in the World Cup is what I try to learn from them.
