UK has seen ‘disgusting rise’ in antisemitism and Islamophobia, says Starmer

Sir Keir Starmer has condemned the “disgusting rise” in antisemitism and Islamophobia in the UK, following Hamas’s “terrorist attack” on Israel. The leader of the opposition told MPs that “every member of this house has a duty to say no to this hate” during Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday 18 October. “Since Hamas’s terrorist attack, our country has seen a disgusting rise in antisemitism,” Sir Keir said. “Jewish businesses attacked, Jewish schools marked with red paint and Jewish families hiding who they are. “And we have seen an appalling surge in Islamophobia. Mosques forced to ramp up security, British Muslims and Palestinians spoken to as if they are terrorists.”
