Glasgow headlines 18 October: Council face backlash after selling green space to developers
  • 6 months ago
The local authority has received backlash from the community after selling off a much loved green space in Dennistoun to developers.

The patch of grass sits between Fleming Street and Glenpark Street and is being sold to Reid Wire.

Neighbouring businesses and local people have expressed their dismay at the decision, arguing that while the council claims the land is derelict, it is used regularly and is a popular dog walking spot.

Next, Glasgow’s West End has been featured in Time Out magazine’s list of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods.

This is the brand’s sixth annual list which placed the Glasgow district as number 20.

The ranking was based on a survey involving more than 12,000 people across the world.

And finally, Glasgow’s Christmas light switch on event is scheduled to take place on George Square on 19 November.

It will be hosted by Clyde 1 presenters George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie and will feature live music and a choir.
