00:04 And today we're gonna be talking about what we know so far

00:07 for the sequel to Tron Legacy, Tron Ares.

00:14 - Now as always, first up, let's talk about the cast

00:20 and crew.

00:21 Tron Ares is set to star Oscar winner Jared Leto

00:23 as the lead character Ares.

00:25 And joining alongside him are Evan Peters,

00:28 Greta Lee and Jodie Turner-Smith.

00:30 Cameron Monaghan has also been confirmed for the film,

00:32 but details about his character are still widely unknown.

00:35 The film has been written and directed by Joachim Rönig,

00:38 known for his work on Pirates of the Caribbean,

00:40 Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent, Mistress of Evil.

00:45 Now, as far as pre-production is concerned,

00:47 we have to talk about the slowdowns for this.

00:50 Tron Ares has experienced a set of unfortunate slowdowns

00:54 due to the cast being laid off

00:55 to the Writers Guild of America Strike.

00:57 The production for Tron Ares has unfortunately

00:59 had over a hundred members of its crew laid off

01:02 due to the strikes.

01:03 However, with the WGA strikes now over,

01:05 there is some hope for Tron Ares.

01:07 As mentioned by the director on his Instagram,

01:09 as soon as the strikes were over,

01:11 they intended to proceed with writing the film.

01:13 And originally they were on track to start filming back

01:16 in August of 2023.

01:18 The best case scenario right now

01:19 is that we would see production resuming hopefully soon,

01:22 and we're still waiting for the SAG after strike

01:24 at the time of the recording of this video to be resolved.

01:27 So we can expect to see a possibility of this film

01:29 releasing in late 2024, possibly early 2025.

01:33 Now we're gonna talk about briefly some rumors

01:35 and information that we do know about the plot details

01:38 and some fan expectations.

01:40 The storyline is rumored to revolve around AI

01:43 and is expected to follow Leto's character Ares

01:46 on a journey from a digital world to a human one.

01:48 Some of the rumors contain that Gretelie's character

01:50 is described as a video game programmer for a tech company

01:54 who aims to protect her world-changing technology

01:57 and forms a bond with Ares.

01:59 Now as for what some of the fans want to see

02:00 and what they are hoping for

02:02 is to see a similarity to the "Matrix" franchise

02:04 where the Tron world and the real world

02:06 would intertwine and mix.

02:08 So there's some speculation that Ares

02:10 would be crossing over into the real world

02:11 to explore his sentience.

02:18 has been halted for this.
