US to Implement Stricter Measures to Curb Export of AI Chips to China
  • 6 months ago
The US will take steps to prevent chipmakers from selling AI chips to China that could circumvent export restrictions. New rules will be added this week to the sweeping restrictions on chip and equipment exports to China implemented last October. The US plans to restrict additional advanced AI chips for data centers not currently captured. Companies will need to notify the government before shipping the most powerful consumer AI chips to ensure they are not being misused. Loopholes giving Chinese firms access to US AI chips via overseas units may also be closed.
