[Music] amanda owen has shared how she and husband clive managed to buy their dream home to use as a holiday let the 46 year old star said that they had wanted to buy the 17th century cottage as part of a plan to secure an income away from farming when the accommodation called the furs came on the market the couple didn't believe that they would be able to afford it and keep their dream alive of owning holiday homes [Music] she said that at the time her and clive 66 still owned a small flat in kirby stephen cumbria from when they first got together it was an asset that they were struggling to sell but amanda found out that the owners of the furs were also having problems finding a buyer clive then hatched a plan which would see the flat being used in part exchange for the countryside residents as they were gutted about the asking price in her book adventures of the yorkshire shepherdess amanda revealed how the proposed a deal to the owners and her surprise as it then worked out perfectly amanda wrote i told clive that they too were having difficulty finding a buyer although for different reasons than ourselves i don't think susan likes what the potential buyers what to do with the house and she's trying to put them off i said [Music] i think graham is humoring her he knows how much the place means to her clive jokingly said they should try part exchanging their flat in kirkby stephen but didn't really believe it would happen amanda initially didn't buy into this plan and she wrote i doubt it i said [Music] they're already bought a house there and what would they want with a pokey little flat anyway i thought that it was a ridiculously stupid idea there was no way that i was going to put that suggestion to susan ever [Music] clive then said it's no good susan putting folks off thinking that if she waits long enough we're going to buy it [Music] amanda continued he was right it needed sorting out once and for we arranged to go over at the weekend when raven was at home to keep an eye on the littler ones [Music] susan and graham welcomed us with tea and biscuits and i couldn't help but wonder whether they thought that we had good news for them i decided that clive should do the talking but just to make sure there were no crossed wires i thought i'd be clear from the outset to aman
