Queen 'sent strawberries & muffins' after royal piper's wife given heartbreaking diagnosis

Major Scott Methven served as the Queen's Royal Piper from 2015 to 2019 and was told to leave his duties after his wife was diagnosed with cancer. In an act of kindness, the Queen sent gifts to the nurses who were treating his wife, Morven. After his wife was diagnosed with stage four cancer, Mr Methven was instructed to take as much time he needed to be with his wife in hospital.  Indeed, the Queen ordered him to give a prepared basket to the nurses at the hospital. Recounting the moment to BBC Scotland, Mr Methven praised the Queen for the touching gesture. He said: "One morning when I went to the hospital, the Queen had arranged for strawberries and muffins to be made up in a basket for ...
