Pink obsessed woman spent £5k on Barbie wardrobe

A woman so obsessed with the colour pink she spent £5k on a matching wardrobe says she gets called a "freak" - but is proud of her sense of style.

Holly Weymouth, 28, has always loved all things pink - including Barbie dolls.

She says 90% of her wardrobe is made up of pink clothes - on which she has spent an estimated £5,000.

Holly claims that not all people love pink as much as her - and she's used to being shunned for her outfits.

She says shop assistants have ignored her and she's even been refused entry from nightclubs.

And, while comments do get her down, Holly says she is is happy with who she is.

The retail worker, from Surrey, said: "It makes me feel really depressed.

"At times I've even wanted to change my style completely.

"I've been called a freak and get really unkind nasty looks from people.

"I've also been regularly ignored by shop assistants and refused from clubs for the way I dress.

"But when I think about and calm down I just always go back to wanting to be who I am despite people's opinions."

Holly was diagnosed with epilepsy aged five, which she suffered with into her mid-teens.

Due to hospital appointments she didn't attend school very often and so was unable to make many friends.

She has since grown out of her childhood epilepsy and now lives ''her best life''.

But despite her love for the colour, Holly has to endure abuse and self-doubt over her style.

She said: "I go through it all the time, when I’m meeting new people at the back of my mind I’m always thinking they probably won’t like me based on the way I dress and present myself.

"I receive stares every time I leave the house wearing pink or Barbie and it has really knocked my confidence and I’ve cried about it multiple times behind closed doors as to me dressing a certain way shouldn’t cause hate or dislike towards a person

"I’ve had people point and laugh at me before in the street and not even be discreet about it and me being obviously upset and uncomfortable.

"It’s like having a dress sense which isn’t mainstream dehumanises you in some way as some people don’t seem to care about treating you a certain way."

However, Holly continues to embrace her pink passion and says it makes her "so happy."

She said: ''I've always loved pink and Barbie from a young age and used to have lots of the dolls.

''People might think it's all a bit weird and that it's a waste of money but my pink life makes me so happy and I know I deserve that.

"I do get lots of nasty looks, but also lots of nice comments too.

"I would say about 90 percent of my wardrobe is pink, and I've spent £5,000 working on my collection.

"My family think it's a bit strange and a bit quirky but they're used to it.

"They're supportive, but they're all very generic, I'm the kooky one who's the black sheep of the family."

As well as clothes, Holly's love for pink stretches out into other parts of her life too.

"I only use pink pens," she said.

"And by that, I mean the ink has to be pink too, I have one with me that I take everywhere.

"I have a few pairs of pink Barbie pyjamas I love too."

At home, Holly even likes to dye her food pink, holding regular pink tea parties.

She said that foods that are pink just taste better to her.

"Anything I can dye pink I will," she added.

"I regularly put food colouring into my pasta sauce, I just prefer food when it's pink.

"Most of my thoughts throughout the day consist of pink and if I was able to make the world completely pink I think it would be a better place."
