Black Dog at the BFI London Film Festival: Road trip for two London teenagers who find each other and themselves
  • 7 months ago
George Jaques’ debut feature Black Dog starts on the streets of Brixton and ends on a non-descript housing estate in Scotland but it’s the journey that’s important in this teenage road trip drama, which is showing in the First Feature Competition at this year’s BFI London Film Festival. After a scene-setting opening in Brixton (including a quick stop in Morley’s), we’re introduced to Jamie Flatters’ Nathan, a wannabe-streetwise foster child who has, he admits, never been further north than Camden Town. After a heart-to-heart with Games of Thrones alumni Paul Kaye who runs a garage out of a railway arch, Nathan is ready to break out of London.
