The Netherlands suffered an 81-run defeat against Pakistan in their 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in Hyderabad on Friday, October 6. Bowling first, the Dutchmen were in a good position, 38/3 in the 10th over. But Pakistan still managed to score 286 all in 49 overs, a total which eventually proved a target for the Associate team. In the post-match conference, all-rounder Bas De Leede who claimed a four-wicket haul (4/62) and hit a half-century (67 off 68), said that "the wickets that were our downfall". The chase itself got off to a confident start, and the Netherlands were 120/3 in the 24th over. But they could only add another 85 runs to the total before getting dismissed in the 41st over.
