UK Regulator Launches Probe Into Amazon Web Services and Microsoft
  • 7 months ago
The UK's Competition and Markets Authority is launching an investigation into major cloud service providers, including Microsoft's Azure and Amazon Web Services, due to concerns raised by the telecoms regulator Ofcom. Ofcom identified issues such as high charges for moving data out of the cloud, limitations on using only one provider, and difficulties in switching between providers. The CMA will assess the competition in the market and propose actions to address these concerns. Microsoft is also facing potential EU antitrust investigations related to its cloud computing practices and the bundling of Teams with Office.
