00:00 Before we get into our top story I would just like to thank everyone who's shared this
00:15 video of me and my wife doing our usual training routine.
00:18 It's so nice to see so many of you appreciate the hard work that I put into my physique
00:25 and it's nice to get the messages about how insanely strong me and my wife are.
00:30 What do you mean no one's going to buy that?
00:33 Of course they are.
00:35 I know you can tell it's Julius Creed and Ivy Nile, I know that, you and I know that.
00:41 But they might not be able to see it, they're watching this on their phones in the toilet,
00:44 the video will be tiny.
00:46 Why get away with it you don't know?
00:50 In all seriousness that is an incredible feat of strength.
00:53 And kudos to Ivy Nile and Julius Creed.
00:55 And kudos to WWE who are taking an absolute war to AEW next week.
01:01 When AEW launched in 2019, WWE went into overdrive to try and shut down their momentum quickly
01:07 and not a lot of it worked.
01:10 Especially their big plan of moving NXT off the WWE Network and onto USA Network to run
01:16 directly against AEW's Dynamite.
01:19 AEW won the Wednesday Night War and NXT moved to Tuesday nights where it's remained ever
01:24 since.
01:25 But things are a bit different in 2023 than they were in 2021.
01:29 WWE is an incredibly hot product at the moment, their PPVs are doing great numbers on Peacock,
01:36 their ratings are much stronger and - perhaps more importantly - their attendance is way
01:41 up.
01:42 WWE are regularly sending out press releases that promote their attendance records for
01:47 various areas and how they're breaking viewing figures on Peacock for their PPVs to paraphrase
01:53 Mugatu that WWE is so hot right now.
01:57 AEW on the other hand isn't.
01:59 While their ratings are holding steady, attendance is not where it was a year ago.
02:03 Buy rates for PPVs are also slightly down.
02:06 All In did great numbers, but All Out and Revolution were down year on year and WrestleDream
02:11 got about the same as All Out - around 100,000 buys.
02:15 They're still profitable as a business, recently signing a new billion dollar deal
02:18 with Warner Bros, but to badly paraphrase Mugatu, that AEW ain't hot right now.
02:24 Which is going to make next Tuesday night an exciting one for both companies and more
02:29 importantly us wrestling fans.
02:31 Because next week, Dynamite is airing on Tuesday, going head to head with NXT due to the MLB
02:39 playoffs, and WWE have come out swinging.
02:43 Also on NXT, WWE announced for next week's show, Asuka will be on the show to take on
02:49 Roxanne Perez, Paul Heyman will be in the corner for Braun Breaker for his match with
02:54 Carmelo Hayes, Cody Rhodes will be on the show to make a major announcement, and if
02:59 that wasn't enough, John Friggin Cena will be on the show in the corner of Carmelo Hayes
03:06 in that Breaker match.
03:08 But sure, WWE don't consider AEW competition, sure Jan.
03:14 Couple all of that with Dominik Mysterio recapturing the North American Championship - which means
03:18 Judgment Day will likely be on the show - and Becky Lynch is still the NXT Women's Champion,
03:24 WWE are stacking next week's NXT to go against Dynamite - which currently only has advertised
03:31 the in-ring debut of Adam Copeland, the former Edge in WWE.
03:35 Lads, I think NXT might beat Dynamite next week in the ratings.
03:38 Honestly, I don't even think that's a question.
03:41 To be honest, they probably didn't need to stack it as much as they did.
03:45 This past Saturday's Collision drew just 327,000 viewers, killed by going head to head
03:52 with NXT's No Mercy.
03:54 That WWE is so hot right now.
03:56 But there is of course another reason behind WWE stacking NXT.
04:01 Sean Ross Sapp noted on the Raw post-show on Fightful that WWE are loading up NXT because
04:06 they're in TV rights negotiation season.
04:09 NXT has done a great job of rebuilding itself after the disaster of the Wednesday Night
04:13 War and the even more disastrous 2.0 rebrand, and following on from the excellent No Mercy
04:18 this past weekend, there is a sense in the air that the black and gold brand is getting
04:23 back to its black and gold best.
04:25 That's been reflected in the ratings held by the integration of main roster talent and
04:29 featuring NXT talent on main roster shows.
04:33 And WWE will be able to use this in their negotiations with either USA Network or a
04:37 potential new suitor when it comes to getting bigger rights fees.
04:41 They can literally point to AEW and say, "Look, NXT is getting more or less the same ratings
04:45 as that show and they just got a billion dollars from Warner Bros."
04:49 WWE just got a new deal with USA Network for Smackdown which is bigger than the record
04:54 breaking one they got with Fox, so they'll be expecting the same for Raw and NXT.
04:59 It is simply smart business, and we're the ones who benefit.
05:04 Because you can bet your bottom dollar that AEW will not take this stacked NXT card lightly
05:08 and will likely announce a bonkers Dynamite line-up for next week's broadcast.
05:12 I mean the last time they went head to head with WWE they announced friggin' Minoru
05:16 Suzuki vs. Bryan Danielson and that match ruled.
05:19 It's why I'll never quite understand the tribalism portion of wrestling fans.
05:25 It's totally fair to have a show that you prefer, but to pretend that WWE don't consider
05:30 AEW competition or vice versa is totally asinine.
05:35 And clearly not true.
05:36 Tony Carter has said on numerous occasions that WWE is his main competition, and WWE
05:42 on legal record have said that AEW has beaten them in several ratings battles as part of
05:47 their Monopoly Court case against MLW.
05:49 Although they've publicly tried to deny it, in that case they've copped to the idea
05:54 that all elite wrestling are competition to them.
05:57 And really, you just have to look at the card for NXT next week to see that.
06:00 But we are the ones that benefit from all of this.
06:03 Because NXT is going head to head with Dynamite, John Cena is appearing on NXT.
06:09 That's insane.
06:10 Cody Rhodes is appearing on NXT.
06:13 We're getting Asuka vs. Roxanne Frez.
06:16 That's going to be awesome.
06:17 This is nothing but great times for wrestling fans.
06:21 And just as a fun addendum to all of this, and I love to bring this up because it shows
06:24 how weird and odd the world of pro wrestling is, in that court case with MLW to show that
06:30 they're not a Monopoly, WWE provided evidence that The Bunny on AEW did a better quarter
06:37 hour rating than Brock Lesnar on WWE when they went head to head.
06:44 Wrestling is mad.
06:45 But what do you think of this WWE and AEW war and the latest developments in it?
06:50 Let me know in the comments down below.
06:52 But it's not just fans who reap the rewards because the war between AEW and WWE has meant
06:57 that talent have benefited too.
07:00 More money is being spent on the boys and girls in the locker rooms of both companies,
07:04 and we're seeing talent jump back and forth.
07:07 In a five day span, we saw WWE announce the signing of AEW's Jade Cargill, while AEW's
07:13 Michael Dream saw the debut of the former Edge in WWE, Adam Copeland, who ended his
07:20 25 year relationship with the company to join the competition.
07:24 While we know the direction for Copeland over the next couple of weeks in AEW, there are
07:29 questions about Cargill in WWE.
07:32 The company has given her a hard push on both Raw and Smackdown touting this as a big signing,
07:37 but there's no clear evidence on whether she'll spend some time in developmental
07:40 or bypass NXT entirely to head to the main roster.
07:44 Well according to PWInsider, Jade Cargill is slated to be at Fastlane this weekend.
07:49 That's not to say she'll be on the show, but Mike Johnson notes that she is tentatively
07:54 scheduled to also be at Raw and Smackdown next week, with the early word being that
07:59 she'll debut for the Raw brand at some point.
08:01 It's worth noting that Cargill was tweeting a lot during this past Monday's Raw broadcast,
08:05 even asking who her first victim on the red brand will be.
08:09 Speaking of NXT, in Sean Ross Abbott Fightful Select is reporting that Mustafa Ali, who
08:13 was released by WWE in the wake of their Endeavor merger, was scheduled to win the North American
08:18 Championship from Dominik Mysterio at No Mercy.
08:21 Ali had already been announced for the match before being released, and Fightful report
08:25 the original plan was for him to win the title, adding, "This is one of the reasons why
08:30 NXT higher-ups stated to us they were frustrated by the call to cut him.
08:35 Instead, Trick Williams was put into the Mysterio match, which he won, but dropped the title
08:39 back to Mysterio on last night's NXT."
08:42 According to Fightful Select, the best $51 in the business, the plan was for Ali to cost
08:46 Dragon Lee his North American Championship match against Mysterio on Raw, which would
08:51 have led to a triple threat at No Mercy, which Ali would have won.
08:54 There's no word on whether Ali would have dropped the belt back to Mysterio like Trick
08:57 Williams did, but Fightful Select report that Shawn Michaels, Ali and NXT creative had plans
09:02 for Ali on the brand into March of 2024.
09:07 But now it's time for my NXT One Minute One Take.
09:10 Crikey, next week's gonna be a doozy.
09:11 Maybe we'll just do a full review, I don't know.
09:14 Let me get my clock sorted.
09:16 Timer one minute on the clock.
09:18 Right, let's get you ready.
09:20 Let me get you into the right place and stop you there.
09:25 Okay, Xavier Woods believes in you, Terry believes in you, and I reckon that British
09:31 wrestling legend Kendo Nagasaki believes in you.
09:34 Come on, you can do this.
09:36 3, 2, 1, let's go.
09:38 Becky Lynch set up her Halloween Havoc title defence against Lara Valkyria, but was interrupted
09:41 by Indi Hartwell and Roxanne Perez who got booed by the crowd, and Lynch set up a triple
09:45 threat number one contenders match which was won by Valkyria.
09:49 Tegan Nox also showed up.
09:50 Tyler Basz and Butch beat Gallus with the help of Ridge Holland, and we got a big interrupting
09:54 game as Ilja Dragunov cut a promo but was interrupted by Trick Williams who was interrupted
09:59 by Carmelo Hayes, and then Ilja left and Dominic Mysterio interrupted both Trick and Mello.
10:04 Corbin set himself up as the new challenger for Dragunov, Gigi Dolan beat Blair Davenport,
10:08 Keanu James announced that Asuka would be on NXT next week, Kehlani Jordan beat Izzy
10:12 Dame in the Breakout tournament, Thea Hale and JC Jane beat Electra Lopez and Lola Weiss,
10:20 Hayes announced Cena would be in his corner for next week, and Dom beat Trick Williams
10:23 to win back the North American Championship with lots of help from Judgment Day, and Heyman
10:26 revealed he'll be in the corner of Brom Break-In next week.
10:29 They also announced that Cody Rhodes will be on the show next week.
10:33 4, 3, 2, 1...
10:36 F***ing nailed that lads!
10:50 Ba ba ba ba ba! Hello! Oh hello! I'm doing the news. So you are! Well never mind, I thought
10:56 it was Whitney that was here to set up the TLC stuff. No, no one's been here yet. Cool,
11:03 oh you're still going? Yeah. Okay cool. Yeah yeah. No I'm still recording this. Okay cool
11:07 yeah yeah. Alright have a good time. Thanks mate. Well, there's our end card!
