Conservative Party Conference: What can be done to fix ‘broken Britain’?

00:00 I would say for me, and I'll say I was always, I've been a Conservative since I was 16 years

00:09 of age. Not anymore. Successive Tory governments have run this country down and down and down.

00:19 If you're looking around the streets of Birmingham, ordinary working class or young people or

00:24 students, they don't really feel connected to the government in any sort of way. As a

00:28 result there's a little bit of a difference in opinions mostly and I feel like if there

00:33 was a better way of being connected, then maybe it would be better overall. Obviously

00:37 the NHS, education, climate, everything, the economy. They haven't got anything right so

00:46 they've got a year to make some kind of indentation on that I suppose. Transport, public transport.

00:54 You know they're cutting numbers and services. I know they're against some people in the

00:59 Tory party are against tax rises but I think we need more. We need to be paying more tax.

01:05 What they've got wrong is immigration. We're a small island and we just can't cope. We

01:13 just can't cope with the influx of people coming in. I think the government don't care

01:20 about people with disabilities. I'm disabled myself. I've got mental health problems, bipolar

01:27 and that. They just don't seem to care. I think the one thing that can be done to fix

01:31 it is get rid of the Tories. They're doing nothing for the ordinary people and I think

01:41 they need to start cutting taxes. They're supposed to be a party of low taxes. All they've

01:45 done since they came in is put the taxes up and taxes up all the time. What have they

01:49 done wrong? Well the list is endless unfortunately. There's a real apathy I feel towards the

01:58 working people of Britain and I think we all feel it. They don't seem to get the gist

02:04 that we have to make and produce and sell and I see I'm in an area where we had so

02:11 much industry and talented men and clever men, apprentices, everything kept everything

02:22 working. Start at the bottom, work up. You've got young children, they want jobs, let's

02:34 create them. You know they're spending billions and billions of pounds on masks and all the

02:39 stuff in the pandemic and they've not even put it into the public services which need

02:45 to do so. I think the government have got to just look at everything and really concentrate

02:50 on getting the country back to where it needs to be, particularly in investment because

02:53 all the Tories have done is just absolutely annihilate the whole of the country. They're

03:00 just a horrible, horrible, horrible party and they need removing.
